New products and new versions

New versions of Aphelion Dev, Aphelion SDK, and Aphelion Lab

Learn more about the latest version of Aphelion Imaging Software Suite.

A new range of camera interfaces

The interface to the IDS Imaging uEye camera series (GigE uEye and USB uEye) is now available in the Aphelion Imaging Software Suite products (Dev, Lab and SDK). IDS Imaging GmbH is providing a large range of cameras, including VGA and 10 megapixel sensors, for both USB and Ethernet (GigE) interfaces. The Aphelion driver is compliant with the Windows 64-bit operating systems allowing to connect any IDS Imaging uEye camera to a 64 bit machine and to benefit of the camera capabilities and the user-friendly interface of Aphelion Dev/Lab. In addition, the uEye camera driver provides full control of camera parameters. It is worth mentioning the performance/price ratio of IDS cameras is really competitive.

New classification tools for Aphelion

New classification tools are now available in the Aphelion Imaging Software Suite:

Annotation software for everyone

If you are looking for a software to easily and quickly annotate a set of images, then take a look at Image Annotator, a free software product that is fully compatible with the Aphelion Imaging Software Suite. Image Annotator is the commercialization of a three-year long research project to annotate eight thousand retinal images by four ophthalmologists located in four different countries. At the conclusion of this highly successful project, the software developed for and used by this project was converted to the commercially supported product Image Annotator.

Virtual Image Stitcher, the software to stitch small images into a large one

The process of stitching a large series of overlapping subimages that cannot be captured in a single image requires a powerful software that frees the user from any manual interaction. Virtual Image Stitcher is one of the very few products available commercially that creates an image of an entire sample placed on the stage of a scanning or optical microscope. VIS has been successfully used to generate images up to 40 Gigabytes from a series of overlapping sub-images captured at high magnification in a rectangular grid pattern.

An extension for Stereology with ImageScope software of Aperio

Stereology Module is a software plugin for the ImageScope software of Aperio to quickly estimate the local surface of a region in a large image and to estimate the 3D volume.

The 3D Image display has been upgraded

The 3D Image Display extension is now available as an optional extension of the Aphelion Imaging Software Suite. It includes new features and new rendering capabilities. It also takes benefit of new 64 bit PC systems to handle and process very large 3D images.

Stage control with Aphelion

Stage Controller is now available as an optional extension of the Aphelion™ Imaging Software Suite. The stage of an optical microscope can be fully automated and controlled with the help of this extension. It currently supports the stepper motor controller Tango PCI card manufactured by Märzhäuser GmbH.

Many new features are available in Aphelion Dev 4.0

Since 1996, Aphelion Dev has been providing powerful tools to prototype and quickly deploy imaging applications to users worldwide. A major upgrade of this software product is now available, providing a lot of new features: support of 64-bit environments, plug-and-play interface to FireWire cameras1, and an intuitive graphical user interface dedicated to both expert and non-expert users in the fields of image processing and image analysis. Aphelion Dev also includes four scripting languages to help the user developing powerful applications: BasicScript (now available for both the 32 and 64 bit environments), Python, widely used by researchers to quickly develop and prototype applications, Visual C# and Visual Basic.

A new macro language available in Aphelion

Python Interface
Aphelion Dev supports macro commands developed in Python. Python is commonly used by developpers for rapid prototyping.

Aphelion, Image Analysis for everyone

Aphelion Lab: This new software product lets users quickly create effective analysis projects for digital images acquired from a microscope, a copy stands, and other acquisition devices. A set of easy-to-use interfaces let Lab users compute measurements on objects of interest in images, and quickly generate analysis reports. The use of Aphelion Lab does not require to have a background in Image Processing or Image Analysis. The product has been designed to be used by non experts nim Computer Vision who wish to quickly capture an image, segment objects of interest, edit those objects and generate a report that includes statistics on measurements computed on the objects.

The powerful library of image processing and image analysis is now available using .Net

Aphelion SDK: The release of the Aphelion imaging components based on the Microsoft® .NET Framework is now available. The components are based on the native components of Aphelion 4.0 that fully support 64-bit architectures and Windows® XP, Windows® Vista™, and Windows® 7 operating systems. A version for Linux® is also available.

A universal camera interface available in Aphelion

DirectShow driver: All DirectShow compliant cameras can now be interfaced to the Aphelion™ software.

A Firewire camera driver is available for Aphelion

FireWire® Device Support: Aphelion™ Lab and Dev include an interface to control any camera compliant with the IIDC version 1.31 specifications. These cameras are automatically detected and interfaced to Aphelion Lab and Dev and their parameters can be easily set from the Aphelion Lab and Dev graphical user interface.

1 Compliant with the IIDC 1394 Digital Camera Specification version 1.31 as published by the 1394 Trace Association.
